I had a big box of strawberries, I'm talking 4 pounds of those delicious red jewels, and I needed to do something with them before they got all nasty. I decided that a pie would do the trick and not just any old but, but strawberry rhubarb pie.
The crust came from here at Allrecipes.com. It's a straight forward Butter Flakey Pie Crust that I have had very good luck in making.
As for the filling, well it was the very same pie I made back in July of 2007, right on down to the monstrously huge box of strawberries from Costco. The only difference was this time I made my crust from scratch and the pie was all the better from it. In fact it was so good Larry and I had two slices apiece.
Pretty impressive since we just had a big dinner of marinated flank steak with little red potatoes.
