Revive is the Tropfest Australia 2013 People's Choice Award.
It's a fairly short feature, just over seven minutes long, but it is long on emotion. Interestingly he dropped out of an engineering program to pursue his film making dreams. The young director packs quite a wallop, it will be interesting to see what he does down the road.

Missing Her
Missing Her, Directed by Michael Weisler, was a Tropfest 2011 Finalist. In this film the director asks "If you had to leave everything you ever loved behind, except for one thing, what would you take with you? And if you lost that one thing, could you ever find your way home?"

Elvis: The Lonely Hunter Of Circle Beach
This short film was the Tropfest NY 2012 Third Prize winner. I don't want to give anything away, all I can say is that it is an interesting example of a natural history film.

The 53rd Hour
Yet another Tropfest short. This one is the winner of the Mobile category of Tropfest Australia. A poignant film shot entirely on the director's (Jason van Genderen) iPhone.

Lemonade Stand
Here is this year's Movie Extra Winner from Tropfest, Lemonade Stand.
I rather like this one, however it does have bad language and a few rather rude illustrations.

RE-COLLECTION
It's that time of year again that I dip into Tropfest. This year they are continuing on with the idea of the letting viewers pick out the 16th entry. A the Tropfest channel on YouTube you can see the 10 contebders and vote for your favorite. I went for the slightly darker themed film that is a great variation on turnabout.

THE UNSPOKEN - Tropfest 2011 Finalist
A quietly powerful movie about what is unspoken between parents and children. A very well deserved finalist in this year's Tropfest.

The Pitch by Nash Edgerton
As regular readers know I have a fondness for Tropfest. I love short movies and this particular contest/celebration of all movies short never fails to deliver interesting and quirky movies. This particular movie is a bit different, it is more of a promotion for Tropfest, but none the less it entertains the viewer.

And the Winner For Tropfest 2011 is...
Animal Beatbox.
A big surprise to me, not at all like the other films I've featured here. Heck I hadn't even seen it until today, but it is great fun to watch.

In Loco Parentis
Yet another short listed movie from Tropfest 2011. I think it's a great little movie, but I think Train Girl just barely edges it out.

Trofest Finalists - FLASHBACK
This movie, Lamb, was a Tropfest finalist in 2002.
I think this is a beautifully done film. It's emotionally raw, but well worth the time. I promise I'll feature something a little more upbeat next week.

ONE - Tropfest 2010 Finalist
Lovely little wordless movie featuring, of all things, dice as the main protagonists.

The Story of Bubble Boy
Here is another entry in this year's Tropfest. It is a lovely little movie and my favorite one so far this year. I don't care for this year's overall winner, but there are plenty of little gems like this one still to be found.
I've only seen the Australian entries so far, but I'll be checking out Tropfest NY in the not so distant future.
