This is just a pretty picture I took a few weeks ago up in Culpepper. It is another one of my drive by photos and I loved how it turned out.
The sun is blocked just enough by the tree branch to not overwhelm the photo. I could fuss over the underexposed foreground, but I think that would distract from the picture. It was late afternoon and the shadows were indeed lengthening.
I'm very minimalist in my photo editing. I mostly just crop, maybe straighten out the image, fix the tint and light balance, and once in a blue moon I will clean up a few imperfections.
